Empowering Young People At The SPACE, we believe there is no one better placed to design and lead the delivery of services than young people. The Space Youth SPACE Youth is a youth-led initiatives dedicated to empowering young people, amplifying youth voices and creating positive change within the local community. Founded through conversations following the Grenfell Tower fire on the 7 Year Anniversary, SPACE Youth was created in response to young people feeling unheard and unsupported. Since then, the group has grown into a platform that develops young leaders, creates opportunities, facilitates peer support and ensures young people are at the centre of shaping the future of their communities. Parliamentary Campaign: Hear Their Healing SPACE Youth led a parliamentary briefing titled Hear Their Healing, focusing on the mental health impact on young people following the deconstruction of the Grenfell Tower fire. The event called for a parliamentary inquiry into youth mental health and crisis recovery. Planned and organised by young people, the briefing created a space for powerful personal testimonies, community discussion and urgent calls to action around the mental health needs of young people. Digital Storytelling: Space Youth’s digital storytelling programme gives young people the tools to share their voices through podcasts, workshops in confidence-building and editing, and creative media projects. Space Youth was originally piloted through a youth-led documentary exploring the years following the Grenfell Tower fire and the journey of healing within the community. • About | The Space

THE SPACE: Supporting People And Community Empowerment The SPACE is a community-led health and wellbeing hub that aims to improve the health and well-being of local communities facing financial hardship across London, mainly focusing our work in Kensington and Chelsea, Westminster, Brent, Camden, and Hammersmith and Fulham via peer support, access to therapy, and advocacy. We are one of the fastest-growing charities in London, dedicated to providing vital support for communities facing hardship. We run one of the largest Baby Bank networks in London, offering baby essentials to families in need across the city. We work in partnership with maternity wards, schools, and family support hubs throughout the area. We also specialise in mental health support and homelessness prevention, helping families navigate crises and access the resources they need to thrive. Our team is comprised of passionate individuals dedicated to making a positive impact in our community. Each member brings unique skills, expertise, and perspectives to the table, contributing to our collective mission with enthusiasm and commitment. We work collaboratively to deliver excellence in everything we do! Our services are accessible to individuals across all London boroughs who require them. Stay connected with us through our website or social media channels, and feel free to reach out via our free helpline at 0800 047 8161. OUR STORY The SPACE was established in response to the Grenfell Tower fire, a moment that exposed deep inequalities and a breakdown of trust between communities and institutions. Many residents experienced fragmented support, barriers to access, and limited opportunity to shape decisions affecting their lives. In response, communities came together to support one another. The SPACE grew from this context, rooted in trust, proximity, and a shared commitment to supporting people through crisis while building something stronger for the future. Grenfell highlighted critical gaps in how systems work: People most affected were not shaping decisions Support was often difficult to access and disconnected Trust in institutions was low Recovery required long-term, relational support These lessons continue to shape our approach today. What began as a grassroots response has developed into a trusted local infrastructure. We now support thousands of people through: Direct support in times of crisis Peer networks and community connection Volunteering and participation Resident-led leadership and organising Over time, this has created pathways for people to move from receiving support into shaping their communities and influencing change. The SPACE is now a recognised and trusted partner— a place where people come for support, connection, and opportunity. We continue to build on our roots as a community-led organisation, grounded in lived experience and focused on long-term change and inspiring other communities across London Weekly Schedule Find out more about what is happening day-to-day, under our 'Services' and 'What's On?'
